# Engine install problems (/docs/troubleshooting/engine-install)



## "No module named pip" or the install stops partway [#no-module-named-pip-or-the-install-stops-partway]

The local engine is a portable Python + ComfyUI that SimpliGen installs on first local use. If the install was interrupted, retrying can fail because the half-installed engine is missing pieces.

**Fix:** Click the **Local Engine** item on the rail's bottom system strip, then choose **"Manage engine"** to open the Local Generation page. Use **"Reinstall Engine"** to start a clean install. Make sure you have a stable connection and enough disk space (several GB).

## "Git is not installed" or "no GPU detected" when both are present [#git-is-not-installed-or-no-gpu-detected-when-both-are-present]

This is almost always a broken Windows command path (a corrupted `ComSpec`), not a missing tool. It makes the app unable to run any external command.

**Fix:** Restart your machine first. If it persists, contact support on Discord and mention "ComSpec". There is a one-line repair for it.

## LTX presets fail after installing a Wan pack [#ltx-presets-fail-after-installing-a-wan-pack]

Installing some packs can upgrade a shared dependency that another pack relies on.

**Fix:** Click the **Local Engine** item on the rail's bottom system strip, choose **"Manage engine"**, and use **"Reinstall Dependencies"** for the affected pack. If a generation was interrupted by an engine restart, start it again.
