# Pricing and monetization (/docs/creators/pricing)

You choose whether a recipe is free or paid when you publish.

## Free or paid [#free-or-paid]

* **Free**: anyone can install and run it. A great way to build an audience.
* **Paid**: buyers pay once to unlock it, then own it. Pricing is a one-time purchase, not a per-run charge.

## Setting a price [#setting-a-price]

Paid recipes are priced in tokens, the same tokens people buy for cloud generation.

* **1 token is $0.01**, so a price of 500 tokens is $5.
* You can price anywhere from **0 (free) up to 1000 tokens ($10)** in v1.

## The split [#the-split]

On every sale the platform takes a **30% cut** and **you keep 70%**. The split is recorded at the moment of purchase, so a later change to the cut never rewrites what you already earned. Rounding always favors you.

For example, on a 500 token sale you keep 350 tokens and the platform takes 150.

## Paid and NSFW listings [#paid-and-nsfw-listings]

The private details of a paid recipe are not shipped in the public catalog. Buyers unlock the full recipe when they purchase. Paid and NSFW listings have their own rules, see the [Creator Terms](/docs/creator-terms) for what is allowed.
